Longer nights, colder days and the thought of having to craft another gourmet style meal can leave us all feeling a little disheartened but fear not, because when it comes to great gastro pub eating, West Yorkshire has some of the best in the business.

From roaring log fires, to bars dishing out the finest ales and gins, we know that West Yorkshire has a wonderful selection of dining establishments in some of the best popular houses the county has to offer.

From Huddersfield to Leeds there is plenty to choose from, here are our ten to choose from.

Shibden Mill Inn, Halifax

One look at this gastro pub on Instagram and you know that the food standard here is of the highest quality. Shibden Mill Inn has developed a reputation for warm welcomes and stays, exquisite food and living in the concept of local produce cooked seasonally. They use vegetables from their own kitchen garden which goes to show the level of respect they have for each ingredient.

From delicious breakfasts to what should really be an award winning Sunday Roast (it’s that good!), the menu options cover meals for everyone. All we’re asking is, if you’re going, can you take us with you?

Ring O Bells Thornton, Bradford

As they say in their Instagram bio, “a family run gastro pub like nowhere in the area” and they are more than likely to be right! Picking a menu that seems to have everything covered, the Ring O Bells Thornton has fine cuts of meat, great seasonal vegetables and a choice of desserts that leave your mouth watering at just one quick glance.

Bringing together the idea of what a modern gastro pub should be, this establishment really gets the modern food scene but with the twist of the traditional as well. Great ales, great food, what more could you want?

The 3 Acres Inn and Restaurant, Huddersfield

If you’re from anywhere near Huddersfield, you will know about The 3 Acres Inn and restaurant. It is probably one of the first of its kind when it comes to the gastro dining experience in a pub. It has definitely gone on to inspire others across the region and further afield. Set in the Pennine countryside the restaurant and inn has won many awards for both its food and first class service.

Just take one look at their Instagram page and try and not be tempted to go! You can’t, after all, just look at this sticky toffee pudding.
